About
Norr Rock
Absolutely unique ground floor apartment in early 18th Century Sea Captain's house. Just steps from the beach, this quirky home boasts many original features, stained glass windows, panelled wall with internal shutters & exposed original brick walls.
The space
Originally built in the early 1700's for a Sea Captain, it then became a convent, a retirement home for 'genteel ladies' and then a hotel in the two World wars. It has since been featured in 'House Beautiful". The apartment not only has a wealth of characterful features, but also sits just feet away from the sea - in fact in stormy weather it can batter the side window! The lovely view though from the same window is outstanding and unforgettable.
Guest access
There is a king size bed in the rear bedroom, next to the shower wet-room; a spacious kitchen, with dining table and four oven oil-fired range cooker and utility room; a large sitting room, with a leather sofa bed and day bed, which converts into a double bed.
Interaction with guests
There may be people in the flat above, but they only share the hallway with the ground floor flat.
Other things to note
The full address is: Norr Rock, The Cleave, Kingsand, PL10 1NF If you're following a sat nav, once you turn left down into the village don't drive up Lower Row as it will lead to a road unsuitable for vehicles! Instead, drive down the hill to where the Halfway House pub is and the car park is on the right and the Cleave is to the left. I suggest you park in the car park and then walk along the Cleave, past the Clock tower and then the Boatstore cafe and Devonport Inn and then Norr Rock is just at the end of the path just before you step down onto the rocks. If you have a lot of luggage, it is possible to drive to just around the corner from the house to unload and then park the car.
The main door will be unlocked and there should be a key for the stained glass door above on the ledge - if not, there is also a key safe on the back of main door. The code is Please unlock the door and then return the key. The flat is through the second door on the right.
