Downderry is the centre of the broad bay which stretches from Rame Head in the East to Looe Island on the West. The quiet village is self contained and includes a Post office/grocery shop, a pub with fabulous views over the Bay, a good restaurant called the Blue Plate and a coffee shop in the square. The village is on a bus service to Plymouth, Liskeard and Looe. The beach at Downderry is fine grey sand with colourful shingle and stretches from about a mile east of Downderry to Seaton in the west and beyond. The beach has a lot of rocky outcrops which makes many many rock pools at low tide. It is a lovely walk along the beach to Seaton where it is clear of rocks, and there is also a café / restaurant right on the beach. There is a beautiful walk from Seaton along the river to Hessenford where there is a good Pub. There are many scenic walks in the area, and the Eden project is within easy reach by car.
