About

Lodge 44

Our Lodge is situated in an area of peaceful tranquillity and outstanding natural beauty. From the lounge you look out across a panoramic view of green fields with cows and sheep grazing, and the little village of Millbrook in the foreground. Also the old Elizabethan city of Plymouth, where 400 years ago the Plymouth Fathers set sail for the New World, and Francis Drake played bowls whilst waiting for the Spanish Armada, Dartmoor with it's tors and mountains in the far distance completing the picture. At night the lights of Plymouth can look quite amazing. If you are visiting HMS Raleigh passing out parade we are only three miles away, and the Polhawn fort wedding venue is very close. For those with pets we do allow dogs to stay.

The kitchen in our Lodge is fully equipped, and includes a five burner range cooker, a large fridge and separate freezer. Also a dishwasher, washing machine and microwave.

The Lodge has full central heating, and the lounge also has a coal effect fire for additional comfort in the winter. There is a large flat screen TV with Freeview.

The master bedroom has an en suite WC and shower with hydro massage jets; great after a long day sightseeing. There are two other bedrooms with two single beds in each. A cot is also provided including high chair and booster seat.

Whitsand Bay holiday park has a heated indoor swimming pool, children's play area, a restaurant with a carvery every Sunday. The on- site Beach's cafe is open all day, and sells basic essentials, including wine and beers, also provides free wifi!. There is a bar with satellite TV and pool table , table tennis, and mini gym. A footpath opposite the park takes you down to a beautiful sandy beach, with little rock pools for the children to explore and a surfing school for anyone interested in tuition.

A supermarket and Spar can be found in the near-by village of Millbrook, at the bottom of Donkey Lane (about a mile) In that village is also a fish and chip shop a Pub, chemist and Indian restaurant.

The twined villages of Kingsand and Cawsand (known for smuggling in days gone by) are two miles away and have several pubs and good restaurants.

3 miles further around Whitsand Bay is Portwrinkle. There is a car park and provides very easy access to a dog friendly sandy beach. Also, you will find the Jolly Roger cafe where all our guests are given a 10% discount on food, drinks, Beer and Wine. Also free Wifi.

Whitsand Bay Fort Holiday Park is part of the Rame Peninsula, designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are numerous secluded sandy coves, magnificent scenery, and spectacular walks round this Peninsula. and great surfing in the bay.

The Southwest Coastal Path starting at Cremyll takes you through the 800-acre estate of Mount Edgcumbe Park, which is one of the most beautiful estates in Cornwall today. Now owned by the National Trust.

If you decide not to drive while at our lodge, a bus stop is right outside the park and will take you to many places in South and East Cornwall, as well as Plymouth. It is only a short ride to Cremyll and Cawsand where there is a foot ferry that will take you across the Tamar river to Plymouth. The view from the top of the bus can be beautiful and quite dramatic. Plymouth main line railway station is 6 miles away and has a good taxi service right out side.

Although, having one of the most spectacular sandy beaches in Cornwall, Whitsand Bay remains unknown to the many hordes of tourists who flock to Cornwall each year.
