About
Bay Stables
The Kitchen Garden Cottages are two beautiful and unique grade II listed holiday cottages. Each comfortably accommodating 6 people, 12 people all together if booking both places. Very family and dog friendly. Located on the Rame Peninsula in SE Cornwall in a small picturesque waterside hamlet with a pretty little harbour.
Both cottages are fully detached from one another, have totally separate, private and very large secluded gardens, each with their own outdoor dining areas and both have private off-road parking. Bay Cottage has access through the castle wall main entrance gates which is within the Bay Cottage garden and Bay Stables has its own separate entrance and parking off the main driveway and overlooks the castle wall but has no access through it.
The two properties are hidden away behind a spectacular tall Castle like wall which was built in 1788 to protect the soft fruit, flowers and vegetables which were grown here in the walled Kitchen Gardens. The produce grown provided the manor house at Mount Edgcumbe. The place is seeped in rich history and architecture making for a special holiday.
Bay Cottage was formerly the Head Gardeners Cottage for Mt Edgcumbe Estate and is packed full of period features. Bay Stables was the horse stabling block which has been redesigned and renovated into a cosy and bright barn conversion.
Perfect for families with children of all ages and very dog friendly with fantastic walks along the coast path straight from the front door and into the 865 acre Mount Edgcumbe Country park.
Whether coming to visit Mount Edgcumbe or Polhawn Fort for a wedding, a passing out parade at HMS Raleigh or just a relaxing holiday to explore the beautiful twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand and enjoy the stretch of beaches at Whitsand Bay, the Rame Peninsula has a lot to offer and is a stunning part of Cornwall. It is very unspoilt, friendly and welcoming.
Beautiful sandy beaches and small fishing villages offering a selection of fine pubs, cafes, galleries and gift shops selling local wares are dotted all along the coast line. The Cornish Coast path connects them all so if you like walking, canoeing, surfing, sea swimming or just soaking up the seaside atmosphere then this is the place for you!
There is plenty to do and see without leaving the Peninsula and we are also well situated for travel to attractions in both Cornwall and Devon. The Ocean city of Plymouth is just across the Tamar River (you can catch a pedestrian ferry which is 5 mins away from the Cottages) so you get the best of both worlds! It truly is a unique location.
