After months and months of anguish, upset, frustration and sheer determination of all involved, The Finny is rising from the ashes.
In a wonderfully British way- it will be familiar with just a little bit of change (think Great British Bake Off when it moved to channel 4). The bar and restaurant will be restored to its former warm, cosy and welcoming self. You probably won’t even notice much change (but we’ll know what all the light switches do!). And yes- there’s still a big double sided fire in the middle of the bar.
The kitchen will still be headed up by Neil (AKA Erika’s husband). Our ethos hasn’t (nor will it ever) change. Always freshly cooked, flavoursome, hearty and local. And roasts. Need I say more.
I’m afraid Erika will still be there creating her chaos. In fact there’ll be many familiar faces behind the bar, it’ll feel like stepping back to 2017.
Live music will still be something we love, along with quiz nights, many more activities and of course, the big ones- Mini Finny Fests!
The main changes are hidden- electrics/heat/insulation. And of course the B&B- we’ll, for the first time, be proud of our rooms. Brand spanking new, beautiful views, luxury bathrooms. And only 12 stairs away from the pub. I call that ideal.
The most important thing is, when you walk in, even in the not- quite- finished- state it’s in at the moment, it is undeniably and stoically, still the Finny.
